A STAR IN YOU
We are all seekers in this life, trying to find the true meaning of life. A life with peace and fulfilment. Finding a good career and earning huge amount of money is what success mean to some people; few find the meaning of life
in their values and beliefs; some, it is the glitz of their children’s face and coolness of the spouse’s eye but for others; finding true love is a dream comes true.
Many people out there are left in wilderness, with their path so dark, quiet and lonely that they could hear their own heartbeat. They waited for the light to shine for so long that they doubted it will ever be bright. They wallow in tears but no one could hear them because no one truly cares. Will the sky ever be clear? Can someone hear them?
I read the story of a lady recently who thinks God may not be real because He could not have been watching her suffer despite staying away from forbidden acts. Her case was so pathetic that she had stopped praying salah; all for men. I felt so touched that I wanted to reach out to her, to hug and hold her. To tell her she is not alone because there are people like her out there. People like me and you. Do not exonerate yourself thinking you are better than her because when Allah test you even the strongest of heart will shake. Anybody can derail but it is He, Allah that guides whom He will. Because you pray, fast and do night prayers regularly does not leave you out of questioning except the seven kinds of people whom Allah will favour on the day of judgement.
Many a time we feel depressed and bitter when relationships fail and don’t go as planned, the thoughts of what we could have done to make it better overshadow our minds. You might have even tried everything yet, proves abortive.
Do you know why?
Your Lord is at work. He has a better plan for you. The more righteous you are, the greater the trials will become but remember
‘He does not burden you more than you can bear’.
“… and We will most certainly try you with somewhat of fear, hunger, loss of lives, property, fruits; and give good news to the patient…” (Q2:155).
About seven years ago, I was at a dead end too; nothing I do seems working. I crave for romantic love so much that I only sniff it just as men sniff a ‘bitch’; guess what! They were just shadows, they leave before it even began. I know there is something about me that would not make them commit. Is it my rigidity, over-sensitivity and being too conscious of God? Some will even say all sorts of spiritual jargon which only led me into confusion. I doubted Islam for a while but never had peace of mind. I prostrated to God to show me the truth. And then, I found Islam. The religion of Allah. I begin to seek for true knowledge about Islam compared to what I know. Islam is the only religion that give true picture of what heaven, hell and angels look like. How angels do nothing than singing praises and delivering messages from Allah.
In the course of seeking for acceptance, attention and love from what He created, He led me to Him, The Creator Himself. He made me realised that the kind of love that I am looking for; He alone has it. Requited, unselfish and everlasting love. I was looking for a love that would save me from drowning in myself by neglecting the Saviour. I have too much love in my heart that I free dispense wherever I go and thought I could at least be appreciated for something close. What hurt most is the fact that they drain you emotionally, left you with pain and revenge. But Allah; will pick you up, cleanse, mend , strengthen you and replenish your lose.
Brothers and sisters, there is something about you that just would not make the wrong person stay. If you think about those who have left compare to who you are with now; you have no regrets except you marry the wrong person or still searching for what is not attainable.
Not everyone will get married, have children, be wealthy or fulfil their dreams but you can’t wait around for the light to come. You need to search for it. You need to develop a strong will to fight evil and embrace goodness.
Feed the poor, be nice to children, and help others fulfil their dream. In the course of doing that, you are bringing out a star in you by fulfilling a purpose.
Do you know why some businesses fail aside from poor planning; living other people’s lives. ‘I WANT TO BE CEO’. Not all are born to be leaders, some are to help others become one. You matter! You are unique! Your time is coming!
The sun, the moon run on its courses by Allah’s permission. The shinning of the sun in the day does not overshadow the brightness of the moon at night. He knows what is good for everyone. What kill most people and marriages today is ‘haste and discontentment’.
It maybe that denying you of worldly attachment will grant you paradise. And, it may also be that He is keeping you for the perfect person.
“…and seek assistance through prayer and patience; and most surely it is a hard thing except for the humble ones… (2:45)”
“There is a star in you waiting for the night to join with the moon ”. ---Ganiyat.
